New York's indie film scene gets its moment tomorrow. The SOHO International Film Festival opens its 17th edition October 7 and runs through October 13, 2026, with Regal Union Square on Broadway as the listed venue. Seventeen years in, SOHO still bets on the outsider. It takes features, shorts, documentaries, animation and series pilots from professionals and first-timers alike, in every genre, on any topic, from any country.
Past attendees include Octavia Spencer and Pierce Brosnan, but the real story is the room. Panels, social events and networking put filmmakers in front of distributors and media.
Filmmakers on FilmFreeway praise the team's communication and the connections they made. For independent voices, a door this wide is rare. Keep your eyes on Union Square this week.
