Broadway is about to meet a family legend. Wanted, a new original musical, begins previews October 15, 2026, at the James Earl Jones Theatre, with opening night set for November 8.

The story starts in Texas in 1893. Twin sisters Mary and Martha Clarke, Black women who pass for white, live on the line between two Americas. They are pushed to desperate measures to protect their mother and an inheritance long denied. What makes it matter is that book and lyrics writer Angelica Chéri is a descendant of the Clarke sisters, so this is ancestry told from inside the bloodline. Ross Baum composes and Stevie Walker-Webb directs. Ledisi, Luke James, Solea Pfeiffer and Liisi LaFontaine lead the cast. A chorus of ancestors called the Kinfolk guides the sisters through rebellion and freedom.

This is the alternative voice on Broadway's biggest stage.
